This is a really simple TI-83+ MirageOS assembly game I made. You control a bouncing ball, and bounce across moving platforms (without falling!) to reach the first and last platforms as many times as you can, and each time you do, it increases your score (first you have to go all the way to the last platform, then the first, then the back to the last, etc.). Here's a screenshot:

It's harder than it looks (although that may be because of buggy collision-detection code :P), and the pixels that the ball leaves behind are supposed to be there (partially because I'm lazy, partially because that's the way my collision-detection works, and partially because it makes it unique and adds an extra element to the game...I guess).

Okay. So I've been learning a lot of stuff about computers that plenty of you have known forever now. Since I got a Windows Vista system, I've become comfortable with DOSBox, and other emulators and virtualization tools that are required to make my old software work.

I'm sitting here thinking about old computers and modern calculators and how powerful they are, and I'm wondering if it would be possible to install an actual, real ass copy of DOS on a 68k series calculator, preferably the V-200 of course.

Would the processor architecture be entirely incompatible? Could it be done at all?

I've officially made it a long term goal to do this, so this posting is just an initial inquiry to the community to see if anyone understands the hardware enough to tell me if it's even plausible.

I guess it would be easier to try running a linux OS. I've seen Linux run on all sorts of crazy sh*t, but I don't really know much about it or how to use it.

If anyone understands how to do this, or has accomplished this, hit me up.
I haven't decided what my major will be, but I have decided that it is time for a new calculator. I have had a TI-84 for a while and it has served me well, but it is getting out dated. I want a calculator that will get me through all my college math and science classes so I have been seriously considering the latest and greatest from TI, but I have heard that this new calculator wouldn't be any good for uppper level math classes like Calc 2, which I plan to take next year. Most people say that it is only good for geometry and lower level high school math classes. Is the Nspire any good for college classes?

The first time you hit enter, the value with be between 1 and 13. Anytime after that, there is a good chance it will be between 1 and 93. Why does this happen, and how can i work around it?

I have a TI-83 calculator. I'm in a math class and the technology graphing is kicking my arse.

I have no idea how to even work the calculator. I have the questions:

1. Fill in the window settings you need to graph this table of values for the energy used by a 10-W light bulb.

TIME ENERGY USED
(MIN)-------(kJ)
0 --------- 0
1 --------- 6
2 --------- 12
3 --------- 18
4 --------- 24
5 --------- 30

(graph below:)

WINDOW
Xmin=
Xmax=
Xscl=
Ymin=
Ymax=
Yscl=
Xres=1

2. Fill in the table settings to have a graphing calculator display the table of values in question 1.

TABLE SETUP
TbleStart=
∆Tbl=
Indpnt: Auto Ask
Depend: Auto Ask

3. If you press (MODE) and then select G-T, the calculator will display the ____ and the ________ __ _____ at the same time.

b) Enter the equation y = 0.5x for Y1. Then, use the settings from questions 1 and 2 to display both the graph and a table of values for the equation.

Sketch the screen that results when you press (GRAPH).

Could someone explain what the hell any of that means? Or give me a link to find out? I'm in an adult learning class and my teacher doesn't know what he's doing.

Doom89 on TI-89 Titanium

I bought myself a TI-89 Titanium yesterday, partly because I'll need it next year and partly because of all the new gaming opportunities. The first thing I did when I got it home, of course, is find out how to get games on it. Learning how to use it can come later.

After many hours of trial, error, and forums (including this one), I successfully loaded and played Tanks. Much to my dismay, the game was sparse and painfully slow, to the point I would never be able to have fun playing it. Maybe it was because I hadn't installed hw3patch then.

Looking around for something good, I came across Doom89. Being an avid gamer, this was obviously something I was going to have to have on my calculator. After some more troubleshooting, mainly deleting some apps I'd never use, I got it loaded and could play it. It really blew away all my expectations. Smooth gameplay, amazing graphics (for a calculator, that is), strafing, intelligent monsters, it seemed like this game had it all.

I had a lot of fun messing around with it for a couple mins, killed a bunch of guys, saved my game, loaded it, then shut it off in anticipation of whipping it out the next day during school and showing it off. Arbitrarily I decided to take it out again and see if I could just finish the first level, and here's where my problem is.

I ran the program again, it displayed the credits, got to where the menu would normally appear, flashed, then exited back to Home. At the bottom is displayed "ERROR: out of memory". I cleared the RAM, twice, deleted a couple more apps just in case that was the problem, but can't get it to work. All that's on it is Doom89 and some of the preloaded apps. I haven't, however, reinstalled the game, so I'm hoping that isn't the problem.

Sorry for the long post for a potentially simple problem.
