News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - Vlad - 11-07-2006 12:20 AM The calculator website Calc.org has been hijacked. It is now a mirror for Super Soaker Central for some reason. Sorry if this news article is a bit unrealated; I wanted to end the news drought. Via Ticalc.org. RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - Roivon - 11-07-2006 12:23 AM Yeah. Saw this stuff yesterday. It's around the community. It's sad, as Ben Trettel, the person who was facilitating the calc.org revival, ditched his site. Super Soaker Central is also owned by Trettel. Let's see what Adam thinks of this. RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - bfr - 11-07-2006 11:10 PM I've noticed this for quite some time. It's suprising to see how long it took http://www.ticalc.org to post this. The article at http://www.ticalc.org was still funny, but what happenned to http://www.calc.org is sad.
RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - 64bitcalc - 11-09-2006 03:03 AM Isn't this sort of hijacking illegal or something? RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - xlibman - 11-12-2006 03:11 AM at least it didnt became a porn website RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - bfr - 11-12-2006 05:30 PM O_O You didn't notice the picture at the bottom of the page?!? RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - xlibman - 11-12-2006 07:16 PM which one? O.o RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - bfr - 11-12-2006 07:22 PM The extremely dirty one that had all of the erm liquid spurting out? RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - 64bitcalc - 11-12-2006 10:51 PM Back on topic, I wonder if something like this will ever happen to ticalc.org. It's depressing that something like this happened to calc.org, and I'm wishing I was in the calculator community early enough to see calc.org at its prime. RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - Vlad - 11-13-2006 04:55 AM Sorry for the one-word post. Anyways, I doubt that this could happen to ticalc.org, seeing as it has so many visitors. Initially, I thought that the calc.org situation was a prank/joke, but I see that it is not... RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - Roivon - 11-15-2006 01:30 AM Remember, calc.org was vulnerable. ticalc.org is nowhere near that. RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - xlibman - 11-20-2006 02:52 PM I fear TI-news may be next ![]() http://www.ti-news.net notice the date of last posts RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - 64bitcalc - 11-20-2006 11:33 PM Pure Wrote:Remember, calc.org was vulnerable. Hmm, although I guess that ticalc.org is similar to what calc.org was in it's prime. Here's my pessimistic side: I believe that even ticalc.org will succumb to general inactivity and lack of novel programs. If you compare the number of featured programs in the present to the past, it's awfully depressing. TI's calculator selection (black and white, low memory, slow processor) doesn't make TI calculators easy to program for. True calculator programmers flock to calculators because of these reasons-to have a challenge. Now, the N-Spire should be more appealing and easy to program for. . . but it has a short battery life.
RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - bfr - 11-21-2006 10:19 PM Because it's challenging? What about all of the TI-BASIC programmers? I don't necessarily program for TI calculators because its challenging. I first got into calculator programming because it helped me in mathematics and a friend of mine introduced me to calculator programming. If my friend had introduced me to...let's say, PSP programming, then maybe I would have done that.

Of course, there can be other reasons for entering calculator programming. With the N-Spire, I (at least) hope to see more programmers. RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - xlibman - 11-24-2006 02:22 PM If only they did something better than TI-BASIC that is not too hard. Lot of BASIC programmers would be willing to code a better language but find ASM too hard RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - 64bitcalc - 11-24-2006 03:44 PM I personally would like to see a more friendly development suite for the z80s. The main reason I haven't made a serious attempt at learning z80 Asm is that you have to use variety of different DOS-based tools, but the 68ks have TIGCC with an IDE, and TIEmu. RE: News Flash - Calc.org Hijacked - bfr - 11-24-2006 07:48 PM Latenite, Brass, and EarlyMorning (and PindurTI). Latenite, the IDE, comes with Brass, the assembler, and I think it also comes with PindurTI, the emulator. If not, PindurTI can be downloaded here. I know that Latenite has built-in support for debugging with PindurTI though. And in case you don't like PindurTI, there's TiLem. EarlyMorning is a sprite/map editor or something like that. I use Latenite/Brass/PindurTI all of the time for TI-83+ assembly and TIGCC/TIEmu for 68K C all of the time. Almost all of the tutorials on ticalc.org use TASM and VTI, which is a bit outdated. |
