Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Vlad - 08-07-2006 03:57 AM

I was browsing the Top-Level domains of the visitors to ticalcs.net within the past year and I noticed many curious things.

(Note: Of course, an overwhelming majority had top-level domains of .net, .com, .ord, .edu, etc. I am pointing out the country specific unique visits.)

14 came from Taiwan...

11 visitors came from a .gov domain. That means that they work for the United States government...

Somehow, I can't quite imagine a government employee visiting ticalcs.net on his lunch break... Smile

11 came from the Czech Republic...

7 visitors came from Luxembourg...

5 came from Guatemala...

5 came from Zambia...

4 came from Croatia...

3 came from... the United States military!

3 came from Ukraine...

3 came from South Africa...

2 came from the United Arab Emirates...

2 came from Benin...

2 came from Brunei Darussalam (Brunei)...

2 came from Egypt...

2 came from Latvia...

2 came from Malta...

2 came from Vietnam...

1 came from Estonia...

1 came from the Faroe Islands...

1 came from Lithuania...

And last but not least, Monaco had one visitor to TICALCS!

I think that it is wonderful that TICALCS has such diverse visitors.

While we are on the topic of statistics, let us track the total unique visits to the websites hosted on ticalcs.net (this includes bfr.ticalcs.net, ticalcs.net, forum.ticalcs.net, downloads.ticalcs.net, wiki.ticalcs.net, and also recently waterbottle.vworldv.com).

January 2006 - 2537
Ferbruary 2006 - 4339
March 2006 - 9903
April 2006 - 12749
May 2006 - 12329
June 2006 - 9753
July 2006 - 8467
August (so far) 2006 - 1325
August (estimated via simple mathematics) - 6846
August (estimated) - 9000

Note that visits to TICALCS2 began increasing at the time of its launch and then began decreasing in May, first quickly, then sharply due to the summertime.

I predict around 11000 in September. Afterwards, it should rise.

This is very good news. Let us hope that TICALCS2 will continue growing!

Total Page Views from January 1, 2006 to August 6, 2006 - an astounding 285,013!

Lol, if only I could have $0.01 per page view, then I would have $2,850.13 - much more than enough for a deluxe dedicated server.

I hope that everyone has enhoyed these curious tidbits. Until next time!

Interesting stuff. 8)

waterbottle.vworldv.com isn't really hosted on ticalcs.net. It may use the same web host as ticalcs.net though.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Vlad - 08-08-2006 12:58 AM

It's hosted on another one of my domains using the same account as TICALCS.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Roivon - 08-08-2006 02:04 AM

Wow. Look at the decline from May-June and then onwards.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - something1990 - 08-08-2006 06:29 PM

Big Grin It's funny you believe these people are actually located where you think they are. Chances are most of them are bots. The people you claim are from the government are probably visiting from a government-owned computer probably at the library or other government institutions. But most likely a lot of the visitors are bots.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Vlad - 08-08-2006 07:56 PM

Well, I never referred to the visitors specifically as people, if you would care to read my post again.

I did care to read your post. Obviously you thought of these visitors as people, differentiating only between regular people and government employees on their lunch break.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Roivon - 08-08-2006 11:47 PM

Stop, both of you. Vladik realized that not everyone who visits this site is a person. Something acknowledges that, right?

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - bfr - 08-09-2006 01:35 AM

I doubted everything that Vladik said in his first post here, but I didn't want something like this to start.  I probably should have let my comment about waterbottle.vworldv.com out....

Anyway, let's not have another argument.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - something1990 - 08-09-2006 02:00 AM

It's not an argument...

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - bfr - 08-09-2006 05:44 PM

It could turn into an argument like...

something1990: "You refered to those spambots as people"
Vladik: "No I didn't"
somehting1990: "Yes you did. [insert quote] It clearly says here that you did, and I already told you that."
Vladik: "Just because I said that doesn't mean I was refering to them as people."
something1990: "=| It's obvious that you were refering to those spambots as people."

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Vlad - 08-09-2006 07:53 PM

Okay, all of you stop it, or I'll lock this thread!

You're all reading too much into this. This thread was made to be fun and interesting to read, whether or not you believe that actual people visited this website from those TLDs or robots did.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - something1990 - 08-09-2006 08:30 PM

It would be fun if people didn't fear flaming so much and didn't take my posts to be confrontational or aggressive or anything like that.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Roivon - 08-09-2006 08:32 PM

bfr, you're arguing that it WAS an argument. Stop, everyone. The stats were cool and I mainly focused on the hits per month anyway.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - bfr - 08-09-2006 08:52 PM

Anyway, back on topic (btw sorry for whatever bad stuff I've done to contributed to this argument/discussion or whatever you want to call it), I wonder how many page views we'll get in Septemper-December.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Vlad - 08-09-2006 09:05 PM

Well, I expect the trends to increase.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Roivon - 08-09-2006 09:53 PM

I don't, as the TICALCS1 issue may happen again. However, come September, people will start to look for calc sites again, so I suggest advertising around end-August to mid-October.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - something1990 - 08-10-2006 01:12 AM

One thing we can be sure of is that bots will always visit this site.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - bfr - 08-10-2006 01:50 AM

Yup Big Grin

Maybe Michael will even come back....

some ppl are more sensitive than others you know....

on topic does those stats include all hosted websites here?

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Roivon - 08-10-2006 03:16 PM

Yes, they do.

I may make use of my Photoshop trial and create an advertising banner to attract more people.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Vlad - 08-10-2006 07:08 PM

Sweet, thanks. Smile
I'll email Michael later, when I have the time...

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Roivon - 08-13-2006 03:45 PM

Yeah, but I have a feeling that he, Forest and Num will all come back at the end of the month.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - something1990 - 08-13-2006 04:58 PM

Maybe they're not interested in calcs anymore... Did he reply to your email Vladik?

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - something1990 - 08-14-2006 02:30 PM

I think Num never left. Num posted at ticalc.org in the higher languages vs. lower languages poll. Maybe he just doesn't care for TICALCS anymore.

RE: Curious Tidbits and Statistics - Roivon - 08-14-2006 04:41 PM

Then he did leave. Left the FORUM. He should be back if something happens concerning this site.

I'm tired of hearing "they don't like *whatever* anymore". This happened in the summer of last year, too, and i've been warning people about this. Maybe they'll come back soon? Perhaps? Possibly? If you e-mail them, there's a possibility that you might get a *gasp* ANSWER.

something1990 Wrote:Maybe they're not interested in calcs anymore... Did he reply to your email Vladik?

My email program is acting a bit dodgy. I'll try to send it from webmail.
