People, how can I add 2 complex number in the for a + bi? My calc is TI-89 platinum.

First, press MODE and change the Complex Format to RECTANGULAR. Then press ENTER to confirm the setting and exit out of the mode dialog.
Then, go to the home screen (which can be accessed by pressing the HOME button), and from there, you can add imaginary numbers. You can access "i" by pressing 2ND and then CATALOG.
And lastly, I'm guessing by "TI-89 platinum," you meant "TI-89 Titanium?"
Man, you saved my life. The RECTANGULAR form that was my problem. Thank you very much. And yes, it is TI-89 Titanium.
