I was talking to Chris yesterday, about this site, and he said it was nice but he didn't like the "Click here if you don't want to wait here any longer" feature. Can we fix this? It's REALLY irritating and it scares of new vistitors.
Well, actually, it is built-in on many forums including this one. Why is it irritating?
Yes, it is a "friendly redirect", I believe it is called.
Well, we think it's not so friendly. It takes us both at least five seconds more to post and such, and although thats a little for the first post, that builds up and everytime you do a little thing it does it. Is there some way we can take it off?
No, and it's on UTI and other sites. Otherwise, it would just take a few seconds to load the page. That would be even less uer-friendly and you would be complaining about that. If I could, I would take it off for a bit, but it won't make loading times faster.
I wouldn't complain and wouldn't think it was less user friendly if it didn't say "Click here if you don't want to wait here any longer" and automatically redirected. Proboards doesn't do it. But phpBB is even worse - is doesn't even redirect after about five seconds automatically.
If you can get direct access to the myBB code, I guess you could get rid of it.
I wouldn't. It keeps the site looking professional.
No, I am not going to get rid of this. And yes, I do have acess to the code.
why do you have more access than me? (ok, stupid question) even bfr has been doing some things that I can't do with the code.
Bfr? I do not believe so.
I meant that I have acess to the PHP, which is possible only via FTP (I cannot give you this.)
I also have acess to the templates. I might give you this power later.
